In a move they didn't want to make but had to save the face of the coach and the franchise, on Sunday, prior to what would become a record tying 17th straight season-opening loss, the N.J. Nets fired head coach Lawrence Frank. Snuday's loss to the World Champion Los Angeles Lakers tied them with the 1988-89 Miami Heat and the 1999 Los Angeles Clippers. They need to beat the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday to avoid having the record all to themselves. Frank was the franchise's winningest coach but was dealt serious injuries to his team to start the season and no longer have Vince Carter. The team is looking for a fulll time replacement though assistannt coach Tom Barrise took the reigns for the record tying loss. |
