On Thanksgiving Day, November 22, you will be able to vote for your favorite high school All City basketball player.  The top ten finishers will each receive a Game Over All City trophy.  In the past the winners have received their trophies on the floor of Madison Square Garden (and meet John Starks and Walt "Clyde" Frazier) and from ESPN radio personality Stephen A. Smith on the set of his (then) television show, Quite Frankly.  Where will it be this year?  Better yet, who will be there to receive their Game Over All Cty trophy?  You will tell us.  Nominations will start this week.  Be sure to check back here how to nominate your favorite High School player from the New York City and Long Island metropolitan area.

The New York Knicks returned home Sunday to play their home opener against the Timberwolves and came out with a 97-93 victory.  The win evens their record to 1 - 1.  Zach Randolph, the Knicks newest bigman continues to show his promise with a 15 point, 10 rebound night.  Jamal Crawford again led the Knicks in scoring, with 24 points.

LeBron James opened the season last night by picking up where he left off by dropping 45 on the Knicks.  In a close game the New-look Knicks iwth Zach Randolph and Eddie Curry in a double-post scheme scored 39 combined points but it was not enough to hold off the Cavaliers at home.

Also, the early season team to beat, the Boston Celtics with Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Ray  Allen made the Gilbert Arenas led Wizards look silly.  The nets didn't fare any better by losing at home against the Toronto Raptors.

So Kobe hits for 45 in the Lakers opening night game against the Rockets . . . and they still lose!  Is there any question why Kobe wants out?  And for those that said Kobe was going to play soft unless he got traded, well, we think that has been answered, unless of course going off for 45 is "soft".

Taron, the Second Place winner received $50.00, a Game Over double-drawstring bag filled with T-shirts and a hoodie, and two tickets from Game Over to watch the Knicks battle the 76ers at the Garden.  He also performed outside the Garden with a new Spit.   Check out his video.

But that was just Round One.  Its history.  Now onto Round Two, where the stakes get larger, the Spits get more competitive, and the prizes greater.  Its not too late to enter Game Over's newest creation, Spit Ball.  But there are new requirements for Round Two - 1. Can you believe it?  The NBA season kicks off tonight with the defending champs San Antonio Spurs (seems like they win every year) hosting the new-look Trailblazers without No. 1 pick Greg Oden (knee injury - out for the year).  The Jazz are at the Warriors and the Rockets play the Lakers, with or without the services of Kobe Bryant.

So, who wears the crown at the end of the season?  Do the Spurs repeat?  Does LeBron take the Cavaliers to the promised land?  Or is it the restyled Celtics with Kevin Garnett?  What about our hometown heroes, the Knicks and Nets?  Knicks are looking good as they get ready to open Friday against The King and his Cavaliers on Friday.  And the Nets take on the Bulls Thursday night.

The people have spoken , The Spit Ball on line poll tells the world that T Gauge is the man in round one.  T G, who started out in third place just a few weeks ago blasted the competition.  With well over 1100 votes T G ran away from the pack in the last 2 weeks.   We must admit when we received his DVD we were surprised.  His flow was smooth and his delivery showed us, that like a real player he put in the time.

We really like his use of ex-NBA players and the fact he kept his Spit positive with out attacking anyone.

This brings us to G-Wiz.  Here at Game Over we consider G-Wiz the man!  Ya see he got the whole thing started.  When we started Spit Ball we did not know how many votes to expect any one contender would receive.  G-Wiz blasted out the box with over 100 votes in just a few days.  It was at that point we knew we had something here.  Wiz, without knowing,  raised the level of everyone's game and set this comp into motion.

This brings us to J Styles, a.k.a. Lady J, one of 3 ladies in the Spitball Comp but the only one to finish in the top 4.  Who would have thought a female would be reppin' Brooklyn?  Well in Round One that's just what happened and we love it, in fact we salute J Styles, Latrice and Jasman for holding it down for the lady spitters.  J Styles will move onto the next round where the prizes get bigger and better.
